A lot has happened since Expo began! From robot dogs to generative AI and space exploration, we’ve glimpsed the future—and technologies already shaping our world. A highlight was our agritech and food security event, featuring distinguished guests. Innovation also took center stage at SusHi Tech in Tokyo, where Swiss ideas stood out and the Swisstech Pavilion was awarded Most Innovative Pavilion. The Most Innovative Pavilion at SusHi Tech!

The Swisstech Pavilion won the SusHi Tech Award 2025 for Most Innovative Pavilion at Asia’s largest startup conference! From 8 to 10 May, Swissnex in Japan brought 10 Swiss startups to Tokyo, showcasing Switzerland’s strengths in technology, sustainability, and innovation. The Pavilion drew global attention and marked a powerful moment of Swiss-Japanese collaboration. To top it off, our startup cohort also pitched their cutting-edge ideas at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, extending the impact of Swiss innovation across Japan.

News from Expo 2025

     

On May 23, the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan, in collaboration with the Swiss Business Hub, the Japan Swiss Society, and the Swiss Club Tokyo, cordially invites members of the Swiss business community in Japan—and beyond—to Swiss Connections Day at Expo 2025 Osaka. This special event offers a unique platform to exchange ideas, foster cross-sector connections, and celebrate the spirit of Swiss innovation on the global stage.

Stable Renewable Power Grids

ETH Zürich developed a control system for renewable power converters that stabilizes the grid. This allows wind and solar power plants to support grid stability, previously reliant on large power stations, and greatly lowers blackout risks.

Compact Quantum Devices

Researchers from EPFL and the University of Konstanz have introduced a new class of coupled cavity arrays (CCAs), leading to more precise quantum devices. This represents a major step forward in creating efficient, reliable quantum technologies.

Artificial Skin Technology

Empa has created a 3D printable, non-swelling hydrogel from cold-water fish gelatin as a promising tool for wound healing. This is a step forward in treating and understanding skin diseases that may transform personalized patient care.
